As the founder of Natural Alignments Wellness Centre, Andrea's inspiration came from her belief that overall health and wellness comes from a full body understanding of the disease.
Andrea takes innovative approach to understanding the root cause of injury/disease. Since she began her journey as a private yoga instructor in 2008, as well as her study and practice of Osteopathic Manual Therapy (OMT) in 2011, Andrea has refined her approach to include a full body.mind treatment plan.
Through her experience, she has developed her OMT assessment and treatment to identify underlying causes of disease, which can often be less obvious. This overall wellness centre model includes a physical, psychological as well as nutritional approach. The believe that the source of the dysfunction takes its roots in nutrition, emotional distress or can be rooted in old injuries left untreated.
Andrea trained for 4 years in Hamilton, at the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy, and is a member of the Ontario Osteopathic Association. This designation, Masters in Osteopathic Manipulative Science, provided her an opportunity to work with a wide range of patients from those with digestive disorders, chronic migraines, back and neck pain, neurological conditions such as MS and Parkinson, to prevention and rehabilitation of injury with professional athletes.
While developing her practice, Andrea worked in a variety of clinical settings ranging from: court side therapy at a variety of professional and youth sporting events, as part of an integrated health care network, in a professional osteopathic clinic, and at her private home clinics. These diverse settings have allowed her to develop her professional skills as an Osteopath, as well as gain experience working with a variety of patient types.
Considering her passion for athletics, specifically volleyball, and her experience coaching both snowboarding as well as swimming, Andrea has had the opportunity to work with high performance athletes for the duration of her schooling. Over the past couple years, she has been asked to attend events ranging from USAV in Kentucky, as a men's open team therapist, to OVA-Satellite tournaments in the GTA.
Over the years, she has written several articles on holistic healing and this past year her article on body mechanics was published in the Yoga Conference Magazine. As a yoga instructor and functional anatomy lecturer, Andrea has been invited to teach a variety of workshops at "The Yoga Conference and Show" held annually in both Toronto and in the past, British Columbia.
Through her experience as a coach, athlete, yoga instructor and Osteopath, Andrea brings a wealth of experience to the analysis and treatment of her patients.
